The SPOT Connect allows you to send text messages, emails, update your Facebook status, tweet, and even alert the emergency services with your smart phone, from almost anywhere on the planet. It works by enabling your smart phone to connect to a global satellite network, by simply pairing to the SPOT Connect via a Bluetooth connection.
Main Features
The SOS mode will send your GPS location to the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC). A custom message can be added to inform and update the emergency services. The IERCC will alert the appropriate agency, wherever you are in the world. Once activated a SOS message will be sent to the IERCC every 5 minutes.
The Help mode can be used to send a custom or predefined messages to contacts stored on the device for non-life threatening assistance. You can configure up to 14 predefined messages, each one up to 120 characters long, or custom type a message up to 41 characters long. The contact will receive a text message, including GPS coordinates, or an email with a link to a Google Map showing your location.
The Check-in funciton is used to send messages and your location to friends or family, as well as to your Twitter and Facebook accounts. Your waypoint is stored in your SPOT account for later reference.
You can also use your SPOT Connect to allow people to tract your progress (Additional service required).
